How has being a Religion graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The Religious Studies Graduate Program at Duke has helped me become the person I am today. It gave me the experience and tools necessary to think critically about the world, culture and history. The classes and faculty members provided me with a rich opportunity to explore my personal interests and advance my career in ways I would not have expected. I am in my current role because of the connections and conversations I had with various campus programs, mentors and the fellow students."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Religion programs?

"The advice I would give to students in Duke's Religion programs is to take advantage of all the classes offered within the Duke's Graduate School. One of the most formative and challenging classes I took was within the English department with Dr. David Aers. The class name and material interested me upon a first look, but I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my still to this day. I also advise students to get involved in the various extra-curricular programs offered within the Graduate School. The connections I made through these events and programs have continued to benefit me in my professional career."
