Omari Akil will describe the challenges of leaving the tech industry and starting Board Game Brothas, one of the few Black owned hobby board game publishing companies in the country. He explains the motivation behind designing and producing games like Rap Godz, which focus on Black Culture yet require no knowledge or understanding of the source material in order to have a fun and engaging experience while playing. He will also touch on the racial tensions in the United States and how they have impacted the hobby board game industry.
