2014 Major: Religious Studies and History

How has being a Religion graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Majoring in Religious Studies has given me a deep, inter-disciplinary understanding and approach to religious studies and interfaith engagement in our multi-cultural world. The courses I took at Duke in Religious Studies have enabled me to better connect with others from different religious backgrounds from my own and to have a better awareness for the religious beliefs and traditions of others. The Religious Studies Department also developed a lifelong interest in learning the academic and theological nuances of religion and the ways it has shaped our world."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Religion programs?

"Take classes in areas that challenge you and are outside the bounds of what you already know and understand. Also take any class with Professor Goodacre."
